Smart homes done right

A smart home that's yours, private, and keeps working.

We build smart homes around Home Assistant — fast, private, and not at the mercy of a vendor changing the rules or having a bad afternoon with their cloud servers.

Why it matters where the brain lives

Most "smart home" platforms send every flick of a light switch through somebody else's servers. That's slow, fragile, and a privacy choice you didn't consciously make. With Home Assistant, the brain lives in your house — your scenes work even when the internet drops, your data stays put, and you can change anything without asking a vendor's permission.

What we automate

  • Lighting — circadian-tuned, scene-controlled, motion-aware. Hue, Lutron, Shelly or in-wall Zigbee modules.
  • Climate — thermostats, underfloor zones, and per-room heating logic that actually saves you money.
  • Security — UniFi Protect cameras, door & window sensors, "leaving the house" routines that arm everything.
  • Energy — solar / battery / EV monitoring, plus automations that shift loads to cheap-rate windows.
  • Audio & media — Sonos, Apple TV, room-by-room control via dashboards and voice.
  • Access — smart locks, intercom integrations, time-bounded access codes for trades.

Equipment we trust

The brain

A dedicated smart-home hub — purpose-built hardware with proper storage and encrypted off-site backups. The thing that runs your house deserves better than a hobby board with a flaky memory card.

Wireless protocols

Zigbee for sensors and lighting, Z-Wave for door and window kit, Matter where it fits. We'll mix the right ones for your home, not whatever's on offer this week.

How you control it

Wall tablets, your voice (Apple Home, Alexa or Google), or a tidy mobile dashboard. Whatever actually fits how you live — not how the vendor thinks you should.

Network

Your smart-home devices get their own private network, kept away from your laptops and phones. Done right, you get reliability your gadget vendors didn't promise — and a much smaller security risk.

AI assistants that don't phone home

Voice control, done properly. Home Assistant's Assist runs speech recognition, language understanding and the response itself — all on the box in your house. You can ask "turn off everything upstairs", "is the back door locked?", "set the heating to 19 in the morning" and the answer comes from your own kit, not Amazon's.

  • Local speech-to-text with Whisper, and text-to-speech with Piper — fast, private, and works without an internet connection.
  • Optional local LLM — for households that want natural-language control ("when I say goodnight, lock up and dim the bedroom"), we wire up a small open-weights model that turns plain English into automations.
  • Voice hardware around the house — Home Assistant's Voice Preview Edition is a tidy little tabletop puck that does all of the above; we set them up in the rooms you actually use them, replacing the Echo or Nest you've been side-eyeing for years.
  • Cloud LLMs only when you ask for them — if you'd rather have a much smarter assistant and don't mind queries going to Claude or OpenAI, we can wire that in too. You choose, we configure.

We run it ourselves

Every product we recommend is running in our own home, every day. Same network. Same smart-home hub. Same locks, lights and sensors. If something isn't reliable enough for our family, it doesn't make it onto your quote.

Custom brackets & mounts, made in-house

When the off-the-shelf bracket doesn't fit your wall, your architrave or that awkward corner above the porch, we design and 3D print custom mounts, enclosures and cable-tidy parts ourselves. It's a small thing — but it's the difference between a clean install and a sensor dangling on cable ties.

Areas we cover
